Mulled Malbec Wine

Ingredients

2 bottles of Malbec

3 cups spiced apple cider (I used Trader Joe’s)

1 orange, sliced

1 honey crisp apple, sliced

1 lemon, sliced

1 lime, sliced

4 whole cinnamon sticks

1.5 cup of brandy (or more) – I used Calvados

8 raspberries

A thumb of Ginger root sliced

Directions

1. In crock pot on low, or sauce pan on low-medium heat, add the Malbec, brandy, apple cider, prepared citrus, ginger, apple, berry & spices.

2. Cover and let it get warm & meld for 30 minutes to and hour or more. I used my instant pot on the low, slow cooker setting so it never boiled (which can cook off the alcohol). If you’re using the stove top, reduce to lower than simmer level. If you do summer, just add more brandy.

3. I served the wine with a ladle but filtered it from the goodies(ginger, citrus, berries, cinnamon) and put it in a pitcher in the fridge when we were done. We enjoyed it all within a few days and just reheated on the stove top. I froze the citrus and goodies from this round and will use for the next 2 batches.
